All in good taste

I'd love to be in Melbourne for the State of Design festival for many reasons, but the absolute deal-sweetener has to be this: the Baking Architecture exhibition that's currently on.

Architects and foodies have collaborated to create inventive (and edible) building models – if only you could turn up with a plate and some cutlery! Participants in this show include renowned chef Guy Grossi, boutique bakers Let Them Eat Cake, as well as the practices of Peter Madison, John Wardell and BKK. The exhibition explores the production of food and architecture – hence the clever house made of butter (surrounded by a wheatgrass-like lawn).

The show runs until July 25 and can be seen inside the foyer at 41 Exhibition Street, Melbourne or through the window. For more details, visit the Baking Architecture section of the State of Design site. It might inspire you to add a roof to your next meal.

You are quite right to want to be in Melbourne town right now - its all a GO!
I checked this kooky installation out the other day & as interesting as it is - its not what I would call mouth watering!

Hey Camilla, thanks for doing the detective work for me! I suspect up-close, they probably aren't hugely delicious looking (I'm guessing they also would have been varnished to stop the ingredients going off) but I am a big fan of the concept.
Glad State of Design is non-stop amazing, read that you got to hear Timorous Beasties crew talk - incredible!

This is brilliantly intriguing! It must be so inspiring to see these pieces. Talk about a good way to get kids to eat their dinner!
