As a stationery hound, I was very happy to receive an innocuous pair of hot-pink pencils in the mail recently. On trying to scratch out a message on paper, I discovered that I had been well-fooled by their appearance. As our designer Grace pointed out, the pencils are actually chopsticks.
They came from the wonderful Cocoon Launceston store in Tasmania, where I recently ordered a cool set of tins by The Small Object (all because of this guy and his cute cameo in our 100 under $100 story).
You can get pairs in different colours, and end up with a spectrum that would make any pencil-case-wielding schoolkid jealous.
I like the idea of fanning out a stack of the chopsticks in a tin on your dinner table. Like an abstract stationery bouquet.

PS While posting this, our art director Jo mentioned how she recently witnessed someone driving while eating Chinese food with chopsticks. She thinks he was steering with his knees.

How perfect! I agree they would look so pretty and colourful spread out over the dining table as a quirky little touch:)
