Inside Out Christmas Issue on Pia Jane Bijkerk's wonderful blog!

One of my favourite must-reads has to be Pia Jane Bijkerk's gorgeous blog. This ever-talented stylist/writer/photographer sends out her wistful despatches from a houseboat in Amsterdam, covering everything from recent design inspirations, Polaroids taken, or the time she lugged a monumental yet hand-made (!) version of the Eiffel Tower around Paris, for a recent book store display. Her entries are like a bundle of postcards from a friend – they add a little spark to every day.

So it was so lovely that she wanted to feature the Christmas issue of Inside Out on her blog. This has capped off our week (of crazy deadlines) really so sweetly.

(What makes it even more impressive is that Pia managed to devote some time to the issue when she's locked into deadline stress for her follow-up to the Paris: Made By Hand book! I'm very grateful she would spend her spare moments on us, and also excited to see how the Amsterdam version of her wonderful book will turn out.)

Have a look on Pia's amazing blog to see more. Quite a few of the photos haven't featured online yet. And if you'd like to page through the real thing, the issue should be in your newsagent right now.

Thanks Pia!

Pia is amazing!!

the funny thing is, I came over here today to show you a post I just did about your FANTASTIC christmas issue. I have only read two pages, and I literally died with love.

here is the post if you would like to see it :: http://art4friends.blogspot.com/2009/11/fave-fab-friday-find-inside-out.html

I have actually itemised everything on those two pages which can be seen in my flickr :: http://www.flickr.com/photos/art4friends/4078418899/in/photostream/

I hope you don't mind!! I just thought it would make a nice reference for me as I go about my christmas shopping!! What do you think?

(If it is a problem I will take it down)

Well done and keep up the AMAZING work on the mag (and the blog too of course!)

Hi all,
I've been saving my comment-responding to after our crazy deadline, but I definitely had to reply to this!

(Back to mad deadlines ...)

Love the Christmas issue and so inspiring. I have an aversion to tinsel and fake plastic trees, I am inspired by the wooden ones you pictued and I think I am going to make my own tree- to be used every year...

I just picked up my Christmas issue too. In a moment of self-bribery, I'm telling myself I can't read it until I've finished my current artwork, but I'm totally cheating by reading your blog over breakfast instead ;)

I adore that second picture. The grey walls with that coloured floor? It's exactly what I'm after in my home. We're tackling the walls over Christmas (I'm going to paint a mural down the hallway in white on the grey) but our floor tiles are almost pink. PINK. We're extending in a few years so it's no point ripping up the floors, only have to do it all over again but PINK? The paaaaaain!!

Cant wait to check out my Christmas issue. I always do something from Inside Out xmas ideas. I wonder what it'll be this year. Pia's blog and her little book are just amazing.

Thanks for all your pro-Xmas-issue comments, it is very heartening to know there's been such a lovely reader reaction.
Alex Louisa, glad that our shoot has provided some home inspiration,; I hope the pink nightmare is resolved in a very painless way!
